NativeVet Materiel and TrillaMed Approved for SBA Mentor-Protégé Program
Local Small Business Supplier Forms Strategic Partnership with Veteran-Owned Company Under New Program Through SBA
Albuquerque, NM – January 31, 2017 – NativeVet Materiel, LLC (NativeVet) and TrillaMed, LLC today announced a partnership under the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) All Small Mentor-Protégé Program.
NativeVet is a Native American-owned small business specializing in products and supplies supporting facility maintenance, repair and operations and medical needs in Indian Country. TrillaMed is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that specializes in providing world-class medical materiel and maintenance, repair and operations supplies. TrillaMed will serve as the mentor to NativeVet under the SBA agreement.
Since it was established in 2012, NativeVet has doubled its sales year-over-year. “We are on a path of sustainable growth, but part of that growth equation is leveraging the tools and resources available to our emerging small business,” said President Tim Chavez. “The SBA Program extends a structured partnership with a company that has demonstrated success in our line of business. We are excited about the doors this partnership will open for us, and acknowledge the responsibility that comes with this opportunity.”
The All Small Mentor-Protégé Program is a new program administered by the SBA, which began accepting applications in October 2016. The Program stems from the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 and the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013, giving authority to SBA to establish mentor-protégé programs for all small businesses. The purpose of the new program is to develop strong protégé firms through mentor-provided business development assistance, and to help protégés successfully compete for government contracts.
To date, TrillaMed has secured tens of thousands of contract awards, task orders and simplified acquisitions, with over a dozen federal agencies ranging from as low as $100 dollars per award to its largest being a global, $55 million medical distribution contract for the U.S. Department of Defense.
“We know that small business creates 99 percent of new jobs, brings substantial innovation and generally keeps our economy moving. So, it’s our honor to work with our brothers and sisters at NativeVet,” said TrillaMed President, Frank Campanaro. “NativeVet is comprised of Native Americans, military veterans and patriots – AKA a true representation of a portion of our country on a whole. It has an internal spiritual mission, as well as a business focus, on serving its own Native community. Because Native America is the original steward of the land we all depend on, we are extremely honored to support the noble and worthy organization that NativeVet is.”
The SBA All Small Mentor-Protégé Program has a three-year term.
